Star Map Overview

Photo2 modifiers- Shift Button for top end controls and the button at the very bottom left of the controller for all bottom half controls we will call this Mod 3.

MIXER SECTION

Starting from the top here are the important differences from the vestax tsi:
Top Middle Button with small headphone icon toggles mix recorder
Two Small square buttons directly underneath are: Snap (left) Quantize (Right)
Two small buttons directly underneath are loop rec (shift=Size) and on the right Play (Shift = Delete)
Sync Functions normally but Shift and sync will assign master tempo
FX Assign & PFL Buttons function normally but Mod 3 (Button at very bottom left) and any of the 4 channel pfl buttons will engage beatslicer for said channel.

FX / PERFORMANCE & TRANSPORT SECTIONS

Left and right are almost identical and most functions are available in C&D modes as well.
The 2 small plastic buttons at both top corners of the controller act as a pitch bend for decks c&d respectively. FX remains untouched with the exception of the encoder which when holding mod 3 will change key, double push the encoder to re engage key lock
Directly under the FX section are 2 rotary encoders separated by the shift key Encoder on the right sets and sizes loops when holding shift loops are set backwards / encoder on the left moves the beat grid and with shift held it zooms in on the deck / pushing the encoder will drop a grid marker while shift and push deletes the grid marker...
In the performance section section the top 8 large pads are hotcues 5-8 followed by 1-4... pushing a pad will set and trigger hotcues and shift + Pad will delete. The 4 small plastic buttons just below the 8 performance pads are deck specific midi fighter style FX from left to right you have Filter / Reverb / Delay T3 / Echo Freeze - The entire performance section is recreated for each of the 4 decks.
The transport section differs a little bit from left to right...
Starting on the left with Decks c/a first button is mod 3 next another filter followed by cue/play for deck c and then cue play for deck a... So as you can see you have all necessary controls for all 4 decks available without toggling modes...On the right hand side from left to right the controls are Toggle deck size for C/D then lofi effect, cue play for deck d and cue play for deck b.

X-FADER FX

Now the fun part!!!
The cross fader has been mapped to control more FX... Before I go on I should probably mention that the fx in the performance section are all deck specific meaning that hitting the button will engage the effect and releasing it will bring everything back to normal (Except Freeze but you guys know how that works...) The fx on the bottom are not meaning the buttons engage the Effects but its up to you to decide which decks they apply to by hitting the the appropriate fx buttons just underneath the channel filters... Once you start playing with the effects you'll understand why, It's easy to get carried away and you need to have a way out (if need be) Also this way you can mix and match the fx as you see fit... So moving the crossfader from left to right will engage and progressively increase the gate bringing it back to the left will shut it off... Holding mod 3 and moving the crossfader from left to right engages and progressively increases the beatmasher (Way too much fun and very easy to get carried away so pace yourself). The 2 fader fx can also be used in tandem with the bottom filter and lofi fx for some interesting builds... last thing and more on this in the video... Ean recently posted a video on recreating scratching using buttons well the gate on the fader is for exactly this reason... Engage lofi and just about any filter to a sound (preferably without drums) horns and vocals work best just grab a nice colrful section and do small baby scratches while moving the crossfader from middle to about 75% and the gater will do the rest... I'm not suggesting you go sign up for the dmc but in a pinch it'll give you some cool ways to transition between genres and the gate on the xfader at least makes it look legit.
That about does it... I'll be testing it at a gig this weekend and will be updating the tsi as required... Please feel free to hit me up with questions & comments...
