Launchpad Step Sequencer v2 (Decks C and D)

Description and Instructions

This is my attempt at mapping the Step Sequencer with the Novation Launchpad (requires Traktor Pro 2.11.0). I have now mapped two decks (Decks C and D) for now, so that people can at least get a feel for this great new feature. I will add the ability to control any of the decks, with the step sequencer, at a later date.

UPDATE: A small update and a tidying up of the mapping. If you press play from the Launchpad, the step sequencer will now show you the step cycle. I have also changed how the Play/ Pause button works, as it will now work properly, playing and pausing. The counter will reset upon pressing Play again. This was due to me experimenting with Beat Sync instead of Tempo Sync. I think it works best with the step sequencer.

I have used the Launchpad S to create this mapping but you will be fine using the original Launchpad and the Mini version too. I'm unsure about the MKII and Pro versions.

Below are instructions on how to use this mapping:

Up Arrow: Sample Page Selector Up

Down Arrow: Sample Page Selector Down

3rd Arrow Pad (Left): Deck Selector (Yellow:C Red:D)

4th Arrow Pad (Right): Play/Pause and Reset Phase Counter

Session: Step Sequencer Editor

User 1: Pattern Length Selector

User 2: Slot Volume/ FX Amount (First Press) & Sample Selector (Second Press)
The Slot Volume/ FX Amount mode allows you to turn on/ off fx unit sends and slot fx sends using the buttons on the right hand side. The top 4 buttons control the fx unit send and the bottom 4 are the slot sends.
Mixer: Start/Stop Step Sequencer

The buttons on the right hand side lets you scroll up and down the slots, selecting the different samples in the set. The only time they do not, is when you are in user mode 2 and the slot volume and fx amount mode. This is when you have control of the fx sends.

I hope you enjoy this mapping, let me know if you have any issues and feel free to request features too. This was partially made with cmdr v0.9.5. If you haven't used this yet, I suggest you do. It makes creating mappings a whole lot easier.

Hi Greg, Thanks for your beautiful work. How can I change your sequencer to be on 32 steps please? Kind regards.

On Launchpad Mk2 (tsi file deck C) works properly, but the switch between decks is not possible. If pressed it is not longer possible to control anything till it's pressed again. On Launchpad (first gen/ tsi file deck D) the mapping is incorrect, because in standard mode it has an other mapping of the midi notes. I used cmdr (thanks for this, it's possible to map many controls at once by learn function) and mapped all note Buttons myself.. Hard work but i think without cmdr it would have been hours.. So far it works.. But i disabled the 3rd arrow.. It started to crash the mapping and the launchpad no longer responses. Without this button everything works properly on launchpad1

Hi Maze, I'm sorry you were having issues with the mapping. I don't own the mk2 version of launchpad, so I can't comment on it working correctly. I'm glad you managed to sort it though.

Hey Maze. I'm having the same problem with my Launchpad. Can't switch the decks. Any chance you can upload your TSI file? Would be much appreciated! Thanks, Max

Hey man! i stumbled on your mapping when i was looking for a seq for launchpad and it works really nicely! great job. i took a look at your map details and it's quite cool the way you went about programming it. I have a launchpad mapping myself that uses 3 decks and 1 remix deck and im going to convert that remix deck to use sequencer instead. I went about trying to learn how to program a seq mapping (especially for the LEDs) but realized quickly how teadious it was. i noticed you were using a diff "page" to show the playhead when playing and the steps when not playing... Ive messed around myself a bit and found a way to get the playhead to function properly and not interfere with the LEDs of the enabled steps without resorting to a modifier change. Anyways i wanted to tell you that i'm planning on modifying and integrating your mapping into mine and if you would like to to discuss the mapping options more you coudl drop me an email at: theskyis256k {at} gmail dot com. thanks bud!

Hello :) Sadly I can't get the sequencer to work with a launchpad MKI first generation and traktor scratch pro 2.6.7. Is the mapping working with that version ? Thank's again for the hard work

You are using an old version of Traktor and that does not have a step sequencer. Update your Traktor software to 2.11.0.
