The Trash Mapping

Description and Instructions

welcome!

This is a Native Instruments' Traktor mapping designed for Ableton's Push (Amazon) called Trash (get it?). To jump right in, download the mapping, follow the installation instructions, and refer to the documentation to learn the various modes and commands. Contact me at flosaic at gmail dot com with any questions or comments. I hope you have as much fun playing with it as I did creating and testing it!

features

  • Complete control of all 4 Track Decks
  • Choose between Remix Deck or Track Deck flavors for Decks C and D
  • Complete control of 2 Remix Decks, including all 4 pages, loading, reversing, looping and recording
  • Access 2 separate Remix Decks at the same time
  • Complete control of FX Units 1 and 2 in Group or Single modes, including selecting FX
  • FX Performance mode for instant tactile control of 6 effects at once
  • Prep mode for preparing tracks with speed and precision
  • Loop and Cues mode for crazy mashups and on-the-fly cue drumming
  • Optional access to the Push's LCD display and touchstrip through a Max Patch, including display of track name and artist
  • Optional custom mapping for the Kontrol Z1 (Amazon) to add a crossfader and dedicated EQ knobs

use cases

The mapping is designed to be flexible. It can be used with a single .tsi file and the Push, but you can run the included Max Patch to access the Push's LCD display and touchstrip. There is also a second .tsi for the Native Instruments Z1 (Amazon). This controller makes a fine addition to the Push as it adds an excellent crossfader dedicated EQ knobs. It is also almost exactly the same height and depth as the Push!

For anyone having issues getting the LEDs to work in Windows, after a lot of messing around I finally got them working using loopMIDI. The issue for me was using a 32 bit version of Max rather than 64, as I'm using a 64-bit version of Traktor. I pretty much followed the installation guide, but with a couple of differences. 1. Install loopMIDI and create 2 virtual ports (I named mine Trash Port 1 and Trash Port 2). 2. Install the 64bit version of Max 3. Turn on Push 4. Load mapping as per the installation instructions choosing MIDIIN2 (Ableton Push) as the In-Port and leave the Out-Port as none for now. 5. Add the Denon DN-HC4500 mapping and choose Trash Port 2 as the Out-Port. Leave the In-Port as None 5. Close Traktor 6. Turn off Push and turn on. 7. Open Traktor 8. Open the Max patch (I got a console error - idi_mme: error 7 opening midi input device MIDIIN2 (Ableton Push), but you can ignore that). 9. Select MIDIIN2 (Ableton Push) as the Push In-Port in the Max Patch 10. Select Trash Port 1 as the Push Out-Port 11. Select Trash Port 2 as the Denon Out-Port 12. Open the Controller Manager in Traktor and change the Trash mapping Out-Port from None to Trash Port 1. 13. If all went to plan, the LEDs should be lit up and everything is working! The issue was the 32-bit version of Max could not see the Push's User Ports (which are named MIDIIN2 (Ableton Push) and MIDIOUT2 (Ableton Push), it was only recognizing the MIDI port named Ableton Push, which did not work for me. Hope this helps anyone who still wants to use this fantastic mapping.

For some reason the only buttons that won't work for me are the play buttons. Any ideas?

I'd start with deleting or disabling ports on all other mappings.

I got it to work. One more question. I created the new ports, but they aren't showing in Traktor. Do you know how I get them to show?

Great mapping for almost all the features all i could request is stem support? it show the remix decks instead on the push.. other than that i love this mapping no need to buy a new dj controller!

Stem mapping support was announced yesterday. I'll work on it.
