Korg Nano Key 2 - 2 Deck Midi mapping for Traktor
Description and Instructions
A basic midi map to allow control of volume, eq and filter fx as well as pitch bend, sync and tempo sliders for a two-deck set up.
For ease of use, please note that the controller is used inverted, so the white keys run along the top. (see attached picture)
each key has two functions, usually the inverse of the main function, accessed by using the 'Shift' button which is the far left white key (when the controller is inverted)
The controller is effectively split in half from the mid point, with each button occupying the same relative function as the other half (in other words, the set up is a repeat image, like 2 cdjs next to each other, and not a mirror image).
Please note that the volume, eq and fx buttons had to be set as incremental changes, so you need to press multiple times to increase (shift and press to decrease).
To enable bass kills, toggle the Korg';s 'pitch bend' buttons for deck A, and shift and toggle for deck b. These buttons can be a bit sticky.
headphone cues are mapped to the sustain and modulation buttons, but you need to adjust the mix level and volume in the software.
All transport controls are done via mouse and/or laptop, as this mapping focuses on the mixer element primarily.
I use the Korg Nanokey2 for production on the go, and its very slimline and handy for this, but the mapping means i can have a little fun mixing as well, without having to pack a separate controller. It works reasonably well when you get the hang of it!
