Oxygen 25 Mk4 Mapping

Description and Instructions

Oxygen 25 Mk4 Mapping for Traktor Pro (tested with version 2.11.0)

This is a two deck mapping with transport controls, cue point access, browsing functions and a simple fx section.
I designed it to run alongside a two channel mixer.
For bigger occasions I like to use it with the ECLER Nuo 2.0 as an external mixer running two channels through the Audio 2 DJ soundcard. For home use or small parties I use the Traktor Kontrol Z1 to mix two decks internally.

Let's get into it!

Transport Controls

Drawing from Ean Golden's mapping for the Oxygen 8, I used one octave per deck. You can trigger your usual transport controls with the black keys and make adjustments with the white ones. This may feel unusual at first, but with time you will develop patterns that feel like playing chord progressions.

Example: Load a track, drop a cue, cue it an press play.

With the modulation wheel turned all the way down you have control over the looping. Turn it up to access the beat jumping functions. For looping and jumping beats I decided on the values of 8 and 32. The 8 beat loop gives you enough time after pressing to either extend or shorten without disrupting playback. The 32 beat jump lets you jump between entire phrases in a song, which I often use when playing house music.

Example: Drop cue, cue, turn up mod wheel, jump 32, drop cue, turn down mod wheel, loop 8, play.

This may seem very complicated, but when put into action it transfers to your muscle memory and feels very natural after a while.

Browsing

To open the browser hold down the C on the far right. Navigate the browser by pressing the pads. You can scroll through your playlists with the four pads on the left and go through your tracks with the four pads on the right. For small playlists, use the "List Up" and "List Down" functions. For bigger playlists, scroll through quickly with "List Jump" buttons.

Cueing & Seeking

The cues respond as you would expect them to. Press to set a cue, press again to access it. Hold down "Mod A" to delete the cues 1-4 for Deck A. Hold down "Mod B" to do the same for Deck B.
The Mod A/B also activates the Seek Position Slider. Hold "Mod A" and move the slide to scroll through Deck A, hold "Mod B" to do the same for Deck B.

FX Section

The fx section is pretty straighforward.
You have HP and LP filters, which start at 0. That means you can yank them down without turning them too far.
The Delay and Reverb knobs load their respective effects in single mode. The knob then controls the D/W as well as the first slider. To modify the second and third slider for all effects in all four units, turn the pitch wheel. This doesn't allow for precise adjustments, but you can very easily make the effects sound "big".

The "Echo Freeze" buttons load specific fx values and activate the Feedback button, which leads to a nice fading echo effect.
Important: The "Echo Freeze" is a HOLD effect. You need to hold down the button for as long as you want the echo to be activated.

Conclusion

I have been using this mapping in bars and clubs for the last two years and it has always served me well. Once you get into the controls and have your patterns down, it's very efficient to work with.
