Stegga's One button that will change how you harmonically mix

Description and Instructions

This button will cycle through different semitone changes with the key knob, and provide visual feedback.
There are two versions, one for the Midi fighter 3D, which will use the color of the LED to tell you the current key, and one that is compatible with any midi controller, which will tell you if you've increased or decreased the key, or if it's neutral.

to install
unzip, then go to your controller manager in Traktor.
At the top, directly under "Device", you'll see "Add.." Click that
Now click "import" at the bottom, and pick the appropriate mapping.
Set you "in port" and "out port" at the top
Now select the first mapping, click "learn", and press the midi button on your controller that you want to map. Do this step for every single entry in the mapping, all on the same key obviously.
Now for the listings labeled "beat phase" and "key adjust" You'll have to go through and set the "assignment" from "device target" to whichever deck you want this button to correspond to.
For the outs (labeled beat phase) you may have to tweak some of the settings to work with your specific controller.

If you have any issues installing, let me know in the comments.

Enjoy!

I thought that 99% of the times, when you change key of well-known tracks could ruin the feeling of it. I wonder how this way of mixing works, and I'd love to see someone trying EDM or any Genre w/ this mapping.

With very well-known tracks, if you pitch it up or down by 2 semitones, it becomes noticeable, but it almost never feels like it's a bad kind of noticeable to me. I do it in all of my sets, with lots of genres of dance music. Drum n bass, most different genres of house, glitch hop, ghettofunk, I even do a lot of live mashups with recognizable pop punk tracks and it tends to feels intentional and remix-y.

Wow! So in practice do you look at Traktor's key reading and do a calculation, or do you do it by ear? Wouldn't it be great if Traktor could alter each track's key info display, based on the key knob position, or even the pitch slider. Thanks for the great idea.

Depends on what I'm doing, personally. Most of my set up is built to minimize screen-looking, so when I'm looking for my next track, if I have time to check the keys of the current and next track and do the math right then before I forget one of them, I do it instantly. If I don't have time, or I forget which key I'm in, I just do it by ear while I'm cuing. In tag sets I obviously always do it by ear.
