DDJ-FLX6-GT: a Traktor Pro 4 mapping rebuilt from Pioneer's official Pro 3 file
Description and Instructions
Pioneer released a Traktor mapping for the DDJ-FLX6 and never followed it with one for Pro 4. I pulled theirs apart, fixed what was broken in it, and bound the pads it left empty. It's tested on hardware in Traktor Pro 4.
Works on the DDJ-FLX6 and the DDJ-FLX6-GT — they share firmware and MIDI implementation.
The fix that made me do this
The FLX6 has two channel strips but four decks. Switch the left side from deck 1 to deck 3 and the same physical EQ knobs start transmitting on a different MIDI channel — while sitting wherever your hands left them. With no soft takeover, Traktor slams that stale position onto the newly selected deck the moment you touch it. Your bass jumps, mid-mix, every single layer switch.
Pioneer enabled soft takeover on the tempo faders and nowhere else. This adds it to trim, EQ hi/mid/low and the colour knobs.
Channel faders and the crossfader deliberately still snap — you must always be able to kill sound instantly, and a fader that ignored you until it crossed some stored value would be dangerous.
132 pads that did nothing
The controller sends a separate note block when you hold SHIFT, so there are 64 shifted pad addresses per deck. Pioneer bound 31 of them. The rest were live, LED-capable hardware sitting idle — their own hardware diagram literally prints the shifted BEAT JUMP row as – – Size Selector(−) Size Selector(+).

Nothing existing was moved and no new modifier was introduced, so none of it can get locked out by a stuck modifier.
Also fixed
- 24 output mappings addressed to MIDI channel 16, which the hardware cannot receive
- 2 exact duplicate records that fired twice
- 4 orphaned MIDI definitions
- Deck pages were asymmetric; they're now identical
Left alone on purpose
Jog wheels, tempo faders, the mixer, every unshifted pad mode, Beat FX and Merge FX. Pioneer got those right. The jog implementation especially — CC34 scratch with vinyl on, CC35 bend with vinyl off, CC41 shift-search, properly tuned sensitivities. Touching it would only make it worse.
Install — please read step 1
- Delete any existing DDJ-FLX6 mapping first. Pioneer's own import guide warns that loading a second settings file over the first makes "both the software and the DDJ-FLX6 not work properly". Two mappings on the same addresses double-fire every button.
- Connect the controller, power on, start Traktor Pro 4.
- Preferences → Controller Manager → Import → pick the
.tsi. - Twelve devices appear. All twelve run at once — that dropdown is a page selector for editing, not a choice of which mapping is active. It's twelve because Traktor scopes modifiers per page, and merging them would break Beat FX, the pads and Merge FX simultaneously.
- Set In-Port and Out-Port to the FLX6 on each of the twelve.
- Set your audio device manually — the file carries no audio or preference settings, so it won't stomp on anything else you've configured.
If every page shows (n/a), Traktor can't see a port named DDJ-FLX6. Normal while the controller's unplugged. If it persists with it switched on, your port enumerates under a different name (Windows sometimes prefixes it) — set the ports by hand.
Known limitations, up front
- Browse and load buttons can't be lit. The hardware only exposes two output addresses on channel 7 and neither is on those buttons.
- Master/booth/headphone/mic are intentionally unmapped. They do send MIDI, but those knobs already act on the controller's own output stage — mapping them to Traktor's master too would attenuate twice.
- Jog ring illumination isn't driven; Traktor has no output command that fits it.
- Stem mute targeting is inferred. If it's wrong, four pads do nothing — they were unbound before.
- Don't re-save it through cmdr. Pioneer stores a Jog Turn range of ±16.0 and cmdr's metadata declares that control as ±1, so a round trip risks clamping your jogs to a sixteenth sensitivity. Edit in Controller Manager.

Most of this is Pioneer's work — 2,736 of the 2,878 mappings come straight from their official file, including the whole jog implementation and the modifier architecture. I fixed and extended it; I didn't write it.
