NI Traktor Kontrol X1 MK2 for Algoriddim djay Pro (Greilark edit)
Description and Instructions
Hey team!
James, this is a SOLID base to work from. Thank you so much for your efforts here.
I've been working on this map a little bit overnight and made some minor tweaks to it. Please see my notes below
The "Work in Progress" Note: The Touch Strip
I haven’t fully cracked the touch strip’s slide/pitch-bend physics yet. Right now, it adjusts tempo based on the selected deck. If either of you figures out the "slide" logic in the mapper, let me know!
The Mapping Guide
1. Library Access & Loading
- Browse: Use the Center Rotary Encoder to scroll.
- Enter/Open: Click the encoder to move into a playlist or the next panel.
- Back: Shift + Click the encoder to return to the library tree.
- Expand/Collapse: Hold Shift while scrolling to open/close folders.
- Load Track: Press the Left Arrow (Deck A) or Right Arrow (Deck B).
2. Performance & Neural Mix
- Vocal Isolation: The Top Knobs are mapped to the Vocal Filter (Neural Mix) for Decks A and B.
- Flux / Slip Mode: Works as expected.
- Flux and Sync buttons will stay active when engaged.
- Cue Points: Press the corresponding button (1–4). To delete/overwrite, use Shift + Cue.
3. Effects (FX)
- Adjustment: Turning the FX knobs adjusts the effect parameters.
- Dry/Wet (Amount): Hold Shift + Turn the knob to attenuate the effect amount.
- This was from James Gillies config, but I did swap out a few for different effects I preferred (we can adjust this so it's more default for others to use in what they want, but this is highly subjective and personal tastes until we can figure out how to select multiple effects for each user. - Thankfully, it is extremely easy to change the effects using the intuitive MIDI interface that Algoriddim's Djay Pro provides.
4. Transport & Deck Selection
- Nudge/Beatmatch: Since the touch strip is in "beta," I’ve advanced Gillies for both FX Buttons 1 (Down) and 2 (Up) for pitch bending/nudging on both decks and moved the deck selection for the touch strip under the Shift Layer.
- Deck A: FX 1 / FX2
- Deck B: FX1 / FX2
- Deck Selection (Focus):
- Deck A Side: Shift + FX2
- Deck B Side: Shift + FX1
- Use the Touch strip as needed for Tempo adjustment.
5. Updated Lighting Effects
- While I appreciated what James Gillies put forth with the LEDwith the BPM on the Play/Pause buttons, they were a bit distracting for my personal taste. So I opted to change the light effects for the Flux/Slip Mode when you press "Sync".
Give it a spin and let me know how the "Shift" layers feel under your thumbs. I wonder if we can figure out how to get them to work with the slip functions as they would the original X1, then freeing up a few more layers to select different Effects rather than using the Pitch Bend for FX.
I plan to run some tests on my Twitch stream on Monday night to see how it flows. :)
