Xone K2 4 deck Mapping for use with 2 Channel External Mixer

by Michael Wenz

Here it is! The Grand Mapping for the Allen and Heath Xone K2! This mapping will work on any 2 Channel DJ Mixer. This is a simple way to use Turntables or CDjs in the existing Club or Party environment and have minimal fuss. You can use this mapping without Turntables or CDjs as I have mapped it so you have full control without Timecode needed.

Here is my notes from my YouTube video

Here is an explanation of my Allen and Heath Xone k2 4 deck Traktor mapping when using two external mixer channels. The thing I was after the most when making this mapping was how to use two analog channels on any mixer but still being able to use Traktors 4 decks. Most of the time when i am playing a club environment I have a very small amount of time to setup during the current djs last song and I found this to be a great way to utilize traktors 4 decks as an addition to the traditional setup using two turntables or CDjs while still using the house mixer.

Pay no attention to the traktor z2 mixer that you see. It is not being used as a Traktor interface, in fact the usb is not even plugged in. I am using an audio 8 interface and this will work on any 2 channel DJ mixer.  You can use my k2 mapping in addition to any Traktor audio interface as this is only a 2 in 2 out setup. So The Traktor Audio 4,6,8,10 interface all works when using the Allen and health k2 mapping I have written. The audio routing I have setup has decks A and C assigned to channel 1 and decks B and D assigned to channel 2 on the analog mixer.

So that aside let's get into the mapping. The biggest thing about this mapping is the ability to move or duplicate each track to the opposite deck on each channel with one button push and while simultaneously unloading each deck at the same time. The tricky thing to get around is how exactly you have to press each button when doing so. Pressing each of these buttons fires off two midi commands. One command to duplicate the deck when you push down and the unload command is mapped when you release it. You have to press each button a little bit slower and more exaggerated then just hitting a typical midi command. It might take a few mins of get the feel for how it works but once you get the hang of it you will see how powerful it can be. The best way I have found was to either use the effects or mixer channel to mask any possibility of there having any audio hiccup due to the load and unload command firing off at the same time.

Now let me finally get to explaining how I have my controller mapped.

I have my K2 setup using no latching layers, please refer to your K2 manual on how to assign different LED colors in Traktor. Another thing you will need to do is make sure you have reset all mixer controls when loading a track checked! I would recommend enabling auto gain in Traktor for this to work best as Well.

I worked really hard on this mapping over the course of a few months. I am hoping that you will be able to send a small fee of $6.66 to my email address djmichaelwenz@gmail.com. The TSI is included as well for those of you that want to try it out and are too broke to make payment, For the people out there that are actively using this mapping please send payment and help support my cause and keep the heat on in the Studio!
