Ableton Live 10 First 4 Session View Track Control (Forged83 edit)
Description and Instructions
All functions fully labelled in the NI Controller Editor diagram but this mapping provides full control over the transport and the first 4 tracks of a session view of ableton live 10 with an included ableton project template to ensure colour coding (just may need to change the midi plugins potenitally from my defaults and resave it for yourself).
EDIT - I can't see a way to add the ableton project file on here but basically just change the colour of the first 4 tracks to match the colours of the pads or change the colour of the pads in the controller Editor to suit your default project colours. You can then save this session (before making any music) as an empty project template that will open whenever you load Ableton and be colour coded to the project.
To use - Install NI Controller Editor and open it with F1 connected, click Edit (right side of the window under templates tab), click Open, then select the downloaded 'TRAKTOR F1 ABLETON MAPPING A - FIRST 4 SESSION TRACKS.nckF1' file. Then open live, preferences, link/midi, ensure 'track' and 'remote' are set to On (and lit up yellow) and I also personally use the 'Value Scaling' option under 'Takeover mode'.
FUNCTIONALITY.....
Shift button toggles between first and second pages.
FIRST PAGE.
All pads correspond to the first 4 rows of the first 4 tracks (slots 1-4) intuitively and first row of slots all have no colouring to make it clear its the first page.
ROW 1 (Filter pots) - Pan for each track
ROW 2 (Volume faders) - Volume for each track
ROW 3 (Sync - rotary encoder) - Transport controls:
Sync - Play (lights up to show active but on stopping will stay lit until pressed again - ie needs to be pressed twice to restart play)
Quantise - Stop
Capture - Record (as per Play)
Rotary encoder pressed - Activate/deactivate metronome
Rotary encoder turned - Change quantise transport
ROW 4 (Shift - browse) - Shift and track arm:
Shift - Switch between first and second page (illuminated first row of pads = second page/shift engaged)
Reverse - Arm track 1
Type - Arm track 2
Size - Arm track 3
Browse - Arm track 4
PADS - As expected - correspond to first 4 rows of the clips (1-4) and colour coded to match the project file included (DEFAULT LAYOUT TRAKTOR F1 MAP Project) - first row of pads colourless to indicate FIRST PAGE functionality
ROW 5 (STOP buttons) - Stop button for each track
PRESS SHIFT TO CHANGE PAGE
SECOND PAGE.
All pads correspond to the second 4 rows of the first 4 tracks (slots 5-8) with all slots coloured to make it clear you're on the 'shift' function/second page.
ROW 1 (Filter pots) - Send A for each track
ROW 2 (Volume faders) - Send B for each track
ROW 3 (Sync - rotary encoder) - Solo for each track with rotary encoder turning not currently assigned (may try it to use it to arm session record later but easy for you to do in ableton if you want to try):
ROW 4 (Shift - browse) - shift and then change track moitoring source for each track (cycles 'in:auto:off'):
Shift - Switch between first and second page (illuminated first row of pads = second page/shift engaged)
PADS
- As expected - correspond to second 4 rows of the clips (5-8) and colour
coded to match the project file included (DEFAULT LAYOUT TRAKTOR F1 MAP
Project) - first row of pads same colour as others for that track to indicate SECOND PAGE
functionality
ROW 5 (STOP buttons) - Mute button for each track
If a button doesn't work first time, just press it once again and ableton should then pick it up and it then work fine for the rest of the session. Buttons light up or go out to indicate the status of the control in Live, with the above issues I couldn't figure out with first press not working and the transport functions needing double pressing once changed.
If you liked this and want to support me then feel free to listen to any of my mixcloud stuff to boost views:

Also got a D2 so probably going to have a play with that and maybe do the same for tracks 5-8 or maybe other stuff possibly.
Enjoy.
