Description and Instructions

Numark 4TRAK Layer FX 2.0 By JWiLL

This mapping uses the Layer button to engage Layer FX Mode. This map is designed for 2 playback decks, and 2 sample decks. Platter effects are available for all 4 decks. This mapping requires the full version of Traktor Pro Software.

How it works 

When in Layer FX mode effect parameters are controlled by platter, and strip search gestures. Platter effects remain on while platter is held and are turned off when platter is released. Touching the platter will override all other effects including echo freeze and strip search effects. Cue juggling will also kill the echo freeze, and strip search effects. All effects can still be manipulated with original FX knobs, and buttons.

Setup Instructions

  1. Download the mapping above. 
  2. Open Traktor Pro 2 Software. 
  3. Click the Preferences icon from the top right menu. 
  4. Click the Import button from the bottom of the Preferences window. 
  5. Select the Numark 4TRAK Layer FX 2_0_0 TSI. 
  6. Repeat this step TWICE to ensure the settings load correctly. 
  7. Turn on Platter FX mode by pressing Layer Button of the deck. 
  8. Twist the Assign Knob, to select effect 1-11. Push the encoder.
  9. Play a track, and touch the platter to engage the FX.

**This version will work with Traktor 2.5 and 2.5.1 but the platter leds are not responding the same as in 2.1.3. I am currently working on an edit for newer versions of Traktor Pro.

I wrote this also on the updated version of this mapping: Jo Bro, i played around with this mapping for a while and found a little mistake, that can mess up sum Mixings, if not corrected !!! you set the Cue Type Selector for Deck B on the "Hot Cue B" Button so every time i hit this button, it switchs the Grid marker to load marker and the the track runs out of sync, cause of the missing Grid :( i was messin around the whole night to get this Bug *ggg* so it would be great if you can fix this as soon as posible, because with this bug, it's not posible to use this mapping at all !!! BTW... It would be great if you can write down what changes you else made, cause for me it was a pain in the A** to get all the changes and correct it so that it fits for my style ;) Anyway big big thanks to this great mapping, it will change the game, i'll be shure !!!

Great mapping! For some reason though, the play button only works for me when I'm in FX mode. Also, the Beatjump function doesn't work on the right deck. Does anyone else have this problem?

I will look into this tomorrow. What operating system are you on? and what version of Traktor? Try Importing the tsi file twice, then power cycling the 4TRAK.

:-O I just jizzed in my pants. This is the type of FX control I have looking for! You are a mapping God..... I get my 4Trak and MacBook Pro in a couple weeks and so looking forward to downloading this. (I'm presuming this works for the Apple version of Traktor as well no?) So instead of using the 4Trak Pro version of the software, I should just stick to Traktor Pro 2.5? When you mention you're doing an edit, is this simply for the strip light effect? Also, are sample decks ones we create and how best would we use those with the effects? Is there any way to use the layers but continue to use 4 decks of playback so as to control (depending on lit Deck) all the songs? Not sure how much I would use sample decks (not familiar with them...) Thx!!!

Honestly, if I can get this type of FX control over my mixes, I will be able to take my stuff to a whole other level, and want you to be rewarded even if slightly for the time and effort you put into this. Yes this mapping works on both Mac and PC. With the 4TRAK version of Traktor you are limited to only 6 effects, so this mapping will only work with the full pro version. The edit I am currently almost finished with has many improvements to the effects and a bunch of cool new features. No donations needed,I enjoy creating the mappings, and enjoy sharing them! It is a lot of work that goes into creating a mapping of this caliber if you use it and like it I only ask that you leave a rating :)
